  The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas developed this Web site to help you gather information about the role the Dallas Fed plays in maintaining the economic vitality and financial stability of the region. The Federal Reserve or "The Fed" is the central bank of the United States of America. The Fed is an independent organization created by Congress to keep our money valuable and our financial system healthy; it's one of the three federal bank regulatory agencies in the United States; The Fed is also the guardian of payments system efficiency and effectiveness, and the lender of last resort. As one of twelve regional Reserve Banks in the Federal Reserve System, the Dallas Fed serves the Eleventh Federal Reserve District, which consists of Texas, northern Louisiana and southern New Mexico.

Texas Border Colonia Geography Information

  The Office of the Texas Attorney General created and maintains an extensive Colonia Geographic Database for the border region. The database stores accurate geographic and descriptive data on over 1,800 colonia areas in 29 border area counties. Maps and data from this database are now viewable on-line at this site (start at "Select County" at the left or bottom of this page). Colonia geography includes the location, boundary and area of each colonia, roads serving the community, the internal road network and, in some counties, driveways leading to occupied units. The proximity of colonias to other geographic features as well as their relationship to census geographic units is also displayed. The database stores additional, non-geographic information on colonias collected from various state and local entities.
