Question:
Are there any Grants available for my start-up business?
|
 |
Answer:
Generally speaking, grants given to business start-ups are very rare. An exception may be for a high technology type business or for businesses producing products that can be used by certain agencies or departments involved in our nation's defense.
The Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) of the U. S. Small Business Administration is set up to help private enterprise do business with the government under a grant situation. We advise that you visit the SBIR Program at: http://www.sba.gov/sbir/ . Another SBA website you may visit is "Federal Grant Resources" site at: http://www.sba.gov/expanding/grants.html . At the state level, you may want to search for grants at: http://www.governor.state.tx.us/divisions/stategrants . Also on a private level, another webportal for grants is the Foundation Center at: http://fdncenter.org/. For business start up capital, you may also search the website of the National Association of Venture Capitalists at: http://www.nvca.org/.
